Enough

source

We are so much better than this.
My heart is completely broken on hearing of the events at the Connecticut elementary school.
If you live in the United States I urge you to go visit The Brady Campaign, an organization here in the States which advocates for sensible gun control.
The world will always have crazy people. We really don't need to give them easy access to guns.
This nonsense must stop.
The World has had Enough.

Sidelined

Since August of this year I have been Sidelined.

This is how I have been spending most of my time.
 Cozy socks on me feets, reading, watching movies, drinking green tea...or vodka lemonade..
Sigh....
I am finally at the age where all of my former injuries are coming back to haunt me. ~ The times I fell down ice skating, the times I fell down skiing, the times I fell off my bike, the times I over did it in dance class, the time I tried to move the piano by myself, the time I fell off of my CLOGS..Well, you get the picture. There are a lot of unfortunate things going on in my back. It is Painful and Annoying! I cannot walk more than a half a block. Augh!!!
 I have been chiropractored and accupunctured and massaged and physical therapied and yoga-ed and Pilated. I hang daily from the monkey bars.  I have been tossed around the murky seas of the American Health Care System. I have been x-rayed and MRIed and I even let a very nice doctor stick a couple of needles into my spine. Augh!!! All to no avail.

Meanwhile my garden has been given over to Mother Nature.

I actually think it looks Better this way.

We've been eating way too much take-out. Tho, this pizza is pretty good..spinach/ricotta. Yum!

I have been trying to take Inspiration from the Collage on my Refrigerator.

I'm TRYING!!!

I've set up a little shrine to Ganesha, Remover of Obstacles and added a nice straight piece of Crystal for Strength and Clarity.

He's still alive. Really! He just likes to sleep this way.
Even my poor dog, Pancake, is totally EXASPERATED!
This kind of explains the number of blog posts from my home. It's getting pretty boring...

That is my "twin", Christie Brinkley, who underwent back surgery a couple of years ago and is now dancing in the musical "Chicago"! I need to know these things!!!

Since I can't really walk very far I pedal and pedal away the days on the stationary bike while I browse shoe shopping websites and Google "celebrities with back injuries" and visit my Beloved Blog Friends ~ Yes..YOU. I LOVE reading about what is going on in your lives. You probably weren't even aware of it but You have ALL really been helping me to get through this.
 Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU!!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~
As you read this, I am hopped up on pain meds recovering from back surgery...because who doesn't want to spend the holidays in a back brace???? See you in the New Year!!!
Love,
 Connie*
The Waltz of the Snowflakes
It is no secret that I am Nuts about Dance.
This Time of Year is Especially Exciting for me because it is Nutcracker Season.
 The Nutcracker is a Ballet that even a non-ballet lover can probably enjoy.
I Love It because it contains the Dance that I Love Most in the World:
********THE WALTZ OF THE SNOWFLAKES*******
I'm just Crazy about this Dance!
This year I am featuring the Waltz of the Snowflakes from Mark Morris' version of the Nutcracker "The Hard Nut"
Mark Morris is one of my Favorite Choreographers. I think He Is Brilliant. I saw him in person earlier this year and my heart skipped a beat. It really did!
If you ever get a chance to see The Hard Nut you really should. There is so much in this Ballet to Love, from the 1960's cocktail party at the beginning to this:
 The Waltz of the Snowflakes. Click right there to watch.
P.S.    Even if Ballet is Not Your Thing you might still want to watch this. Just Keep in Mind that half of the Tutu Wearers are MEN.
And a Belated Happy Thanksgiving to my Lovely Neighbors up in Canada.
And to Everybody Else...I hope you have a Lovely Evening, Eat Too Much, Laugh A Lot, Perhaps get into some sort of a Family Argument, Drink Too Much, Eat Two Desserts with Extra Whipped Cream, Forget About the Argument and Forgive Everybody, Fall Asleep in a Chair and have Someone Else do ALL of the After Dinner Clean Up!!!
Yeah, like that last thing would actually happen....
CHEERS!
Masher
I have been reading Fashion Blogs for a long time...long before I ever even thought about having a Little Blog of My Own.
I've actually even fantasized about posting pictures of myself. Just a Fantasy. Sigh...
So imagine my surprise when I got my first issue of Vogoff Magazine and the fabulous Miz Bagg (who is NEVER wrong about these things) informed us that the Potato Masher is the Latest Thing!
Well, that is Amazing because that means I AM TOTALLY IN STYLE.
I'm trying to decide what to make...hmmmm...oh yeah. Reservations!
Here I am sporting the Accessory of the Moment.
I've added a Stylish Pot because I am just a Fiend for Kitchen Fashion.
Thank You Miz Bagg.
And Thank You Curtise for convincing me to buy a tripod!
Listening to Records
George Marks photo
Do you remember Listening to Records? Sprawled out on the floor for hours reading and re-reading the liner notes. If you wanted to skip a song or listen to it again you had to v-e-r-y carefully lift up the needle and place it on the Exact Perfect Spot. There was really an art to that. And if you were inspired to get up to Dance, you had to be careful not to make the record jump. Exciting Times, n'est-ce pas?
These helpful instructions were on the inside of the case.
Our son loves music so his Old Folk Parents decided that he needed to Listen to Music on a Real Live Record Player. We gave him one that we bought on Ebay from an Old Elementary School in Texas! You can only imagine the kind of crazy cowboy stuff that was played on that thing!
Then we gave him all of our Old Records that had survived the sprinkler-in-the-garage incident of 2007.
The other day as I was dusting, I started listening to the Old Records. I got very Nostalgic and decided to roll off to Lou's Records in Encinitas.
 I was in search of a Melanie record. I used to listen to Melanie over and over. I Just Love Her. I actually thought Brand New Key was about Roller Skating. Oh, the innocence of youth.
Did you know that Melanie Safka dropped out of the music business to raise her children and now in her 60's is off on tour Performing Around the World?! I'd say She's Done Alright for a Girl!
 Pinned Image
Did you see Moonrise Kingdom? There are some Beautiful Record Playing references in that film.
Listening to Records.  I highly recommend it!
