Taxidermy

As many times as we have hiked the Trails around here

we have never seen anything scarier than a Big Cactus.

So sometimes it's a good idea to check in with the local nature center to find what is actually lurking in the bushes.

Nice Kitty!

Run! RUN!!!

Taxidermy is Sad and Creepy yet so Interesting. How often can you come face to face with a Mountain Lion, then calmly sit down to enjoy your picnic lunch?
I have spent more time than I care to admit wandering around Natural History Museums peering into the glassy eyes of Stuffed Animals.

What are Your Views on Taxidermy?

  1. I like your new "snow" in the air header. I have to say I'm not a fan of taxidermy or the public display of mummies. Interesting question. What a beautiful cactus!

    1. I'm always reminded of the scene in "The Planet of the Apes" where the apes are walking through a museum looking at stuffed HUMANS!

  2. I have to say I've got mixed feelings about taxidermy. I don't like it when animals are shot or killed on purpose to be mounted on a stand but if they have died of natural causes I suppose there is no harm in preserving them. Although I wouldn't have a collection in my house like other people do.
