My Nice Dentist

Does this look a little like an open mouth to you? Maybe it's just me..

I have always been afraid of the dentist. It was very difficult for my Mom to drag me out of the house for an appointment when I was a kid. And now that I actually have to make my own appointments, I sweat and I fret and when I finally do head out the door I have to drive around and around doing deep breathing exercises just to get into the dentist's office.
Then I moved to California and met my current dentist, Debbie. A dentist named DEBBIE. She has soft small girl hands, and big blue eyes and beautiful teeth. Of course she does! Her hobbies are making pearl jewelry (though I suspect they're really TEETH not pearls) and growing orchids.
So I sit in the chair and admire her jewelry and her teeth and listen to her stories and sometimes she sends me home with some of her orchids...in an old brandy bottle. They should teach this stuff in dental school!

Thank You Pamela

I haven't had the best of luck lately so imagine my surprise when I found out that I had won the give-away from the blog The Style And Travel Journals! I won the most beautiful and inspirational book: "Habitually Chic: Creativity At Work" by Heather Clewson. Autographed no less! And it couldn't have come at a better moment since I have TONS of time to read and be inspired.

See what I mean? Tres Cool N'est Pas?

If you aren't already familiar with Pamela of The Style And Travel Journals then PLEASE check her out! She is so sweet  and she has the most exquisite taste. I just know that someday she will write her own inspirational book and I will be giving it away on my blog!
Thank You Pamela!

Day Dream Believer

source

When I had major back surgery on December 5, I knew it would be a difficult recovery but little did I know HOW difficult! Here it is more than a month later and I'm still spending a good part of the day in bed! Augh!
Some post-surgery muscle cramping has pushed my recovery time from 8 weeks to more like 12 weeks or LONGER. For a normally very active person comme moi, this is crummy news.
Plus I have to listen to stories of my friends and family going on ski trips and vacations and embarking on impressive exercise regimes. It is So Frustrating!
I cried and cried for a while and felt very very sorry for myself.
Those that know me well know that these past three years have been somewhat trying.
 Oh well....

Then I Realized that I have the Opportunity to indulge in Something that most people just don't have time for.

I have the 100% permission to hang around all day long and just DAY DREAM.
