Movin' On Up

source

I am moving in a few weeks. To a different house in a different town. I just like to make my life as complicated and difficult as possible. The whole family is THRILLED about the move. We've been wanting to leave this neighborhood for a long time. The timing, however, is a little off. We have moved many many times. And I am always the head packer and organizer and runner arounder but this time I'm a bit immobile. So I shall have to literally be the "bitch on wheels" ordering everybody around. My advance apologies to the moving crew.
This has been an okay house as far as houses go. Though I will NOT miss the funky carpet or the rusty fridge or the leaky faucets or water stained walls or the gun loving neighbor. Our new house is far superior. I can't wait. Still there will be a few things I will miss about this place. I always feel that way whenever I move. Don't you? Here's a little montage of some of the things about this old house that I liked:

The Bougainvillea by the front gate is so pretty. I hope I can get some going at the new place.
I Love this View of the Moon. Et Oui, the Eiffel Tower is coming with us.
These Azaleas LOVE the front porch. I hope I can find a good place for them in the new home.
The Sun comes in at the Wackiest angles. It makes me a little Crazy..in a Good Way.
This Chandelier was so boring. I had to dress it up with Junk Jewelry. The Jewelry is coming along with us only now I will be the one wearing it.
This is THE BEST Nap Spot. I ought to know!!
A Rustic View from my Bedroom Window.
 We're selling the piano. Boo Hoo. The kids aren't interested in it any more and my husband says I play like a church lady which I kind of don't think is a compliment. It is time for it to find a new loving home. If you live in San Diego and you want to buy my piano send me an email.
It was fun to have this mermaid themed bathroom. Haven't decided if it will be recreated in the new place....
And finally, I will have to find a new windowsill for Johnny Depp, my blackbird, because our new address is Blackbird Circle. How perfectly Addams Family.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I will probably be absent for some time while I try to pull this move together but I will be regularly updating my tumblr. which you can access by clicking the my humble tumblr. link up on the right hand side of my blog.
Wishing you All a Happy Spring!!!
  1. I would miss that view of the moon, too, and I'm sad you're selling the piano (take up free jazz and see how your husband likes that). And please recreate the mermaid bathroom. I love mermaids.
    Can't wait to see pictures of your new place. San Diego? Will you help me stalk my ex-boyfriend?
  2. Well, most houses have a blend of the lovely and the less so about them... But the elements you have shown us look delightful! The light and the plants and the sun, and the mermaids and the nap spot and the moon and the view from your bedroom... Yes, I would miss all of that.
    But onwards and upwards, Connie. I hope the move goes well. Take it easy. Looking forward to hearing from you when you are settled in your new home.
    And if I wasn't so far away, I would love your piano - mine is seriously out of tune (nothing to do with my terrible playing at all...) xxxxx
  3. I am really going to miss that piano. But no one will miss my playing....
  4. Oh wow, what a change Connie. This will be a good and positive change for you. I can feel it. As the saying goes, Change is constant and good. We just have to accept it and move on. Like what you are doing now, moving on! All the best!
  5. Good luck with your move, Connie! It's exciting, but you will definitely need a director's megaphone and a riding crop to keep your crew in line. Another town, another rilly, rilly Big Shew. I liked the Church Lady in Saturday Night Live. It would be fun to play like her.
  6. A bitch on wheels! That's hilarious (and so's your man's description of your piano playing). You are such an inspiration, you face life with such wit, I wish I could join you for housewarming drinks when you've moved! xxxx
  8. Connie, so excited for you! And you have months of perusing Pinterest to figure out how you want to decorate your new digs, how fun. Not worried about the moving crew, you are incapable of being a bitch. But do make those dudes carry you from room to room (like Cleopatra) to make sure that they have putting everything in the right place. Can't wait to see your new home...
  10. I've moved a lot, too, and it is exciting to see how things fall into place in the new house. I'm sure you can get some bougainvillea going, and there will be lots of new pretty things to appreciate.
    I love the jewelry on the chandelier - what a great idea!
    Good luck!
    1. Moving is always a good opportunity to clean the house...otherwise it might not really get done.
  13. A fresh start sounds exciting, I hope that all goes well. I am a poor mover and we haven't done much. I often dream of the house where I was born and brought up and I hated leaving our last home, but from being a lovely old farmhouse surrounded by fields and orchards it had become, due to boundary changes, isolated in the middle of a vast housing estate.
    Sorry the piano is going. I don't play, not even like a church lady, but when the family come home they always get out their sheet music and fill the house with sound, which I love. (Bitch on wheels plays prim sounds good to me!)
  15. I absolutely love moving! I guess that's because I haven't really done it that often. (1 move to a different Province, then another move to a different town.... and now I have been here for like 20 years and 3 different houses.)
    I NEED A DANG CHANGE!
    But for now I will live through yours. *lol*
    I love the pics you showed of your current home even with the issues you mention it is surely beautiful! Your nap spot looks super cozy and I think your flowers are beautiful.
    Go ahead be a bit#$ on wheels for once maybe enjoy some fancy drink while you do it too. *hahaah*
  16. Good luck on the move. It's always a pain but also a good opportunity to get rid of stuff :) I have to say that my favourite fixture of your current house has to be the gun loving neighbour lol.
    I wish I could be there to help!
    1. Flowers really do warm up a home, don't they?
    2. They really do! I had this spot in my home that looked a little gloomy (it's June now and we're experiencing maybe the fourth sunny day in Belgium - this explains the 'gloomy part'). I solved the problem in two seconds by putting a vase with orange and red gerberas. So warm and beautiful!
    even when going to a much much better place.
    I guess I'm just too lazy.
    And most of the time
    I need a couple of days to really get used
    to the new place .
    Hmmm... bringing the Eiffel with you is a good idea.
  26. Exciting news Connie. Yes, there will be a lot of stress involved, but it sounds as if you were ready anyway. Good of you to take a few snapshots to remember your favorite things about the old place. I smiled when I saw the chandelier! I wish I had thought of that in my old house... I used to hate that chandelier! :-) Thank you for stopping by today. Maybe once you have settled in your new house you can rent the "To Catch a Thief" DVD and watch it again. Wouldn't that be fun?! :-) A bientôt. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
  27. Your bougainvillea and azaleas are really beautiful, but hopefully you can create a lovely garden in the new place.
    I'm with you on the chore of moving. It does seem to fall to the lady of the house to do everything doesn't it!!
    Hold the horses! I've just gone and read why you are a bit immobile. Wow, slightly lost for words. Aren't you amazing! I admire your spirit tremendously. I hope your move will bring you a lot of happiness and some well-deserved good luck! xxx
