The Chatham Hos |
It is no secret that I Love the Ballet.
However, I am a pretty crummy ballet dancer.
I've studied dance long enough to fully understand how astoundingly difficult ballet is.
This time of year I like to profile a performance of the Nutcracker, most especially "The Dance of the Snowflakes" since it is one my favorites.
However, when my Mom sent me this video (she has mad computer skills for someone in her 80's!)
I just knew that I had to deviate from tradition and post this video of "Swan Lake" instead.
Even if you are not a fan of ballet, this video is totally worth it.
It may seem dull at first but hang in there.
So go grab another egg nog, plunk your bottom down and enjoy
The Great Chinese State Circus performance of Swan Lake.

CHEERS!!!!
Wow, that was ballet and acrobatics and gymnastics all rolled into one incredible performance!!! Just amazing!!! And kudos to your Mom and her computer skills, does she also text and tweet?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to expect you to do this in our next Pilates class!
DeleteBallerina's are tough, definitely - I sat there transfixed watching the video, and called Littlest and Mr F to see too, I can't think of any words good enough to describe how brilliant it was, the Prima Ballerina en pointe on his shoulder! I'm chuffed your Mum sent it too you and you showed it to us - utterly brilliant x x x
ReplyDeleteThat poor man's head and shoulders must really take a beating. Squawk!
DeleteChills… that gave me chills.
ReplyDeleteSeriously. Can you imagine her core strength?
DeleteNow I understand your title. You are funny Connie, wow, that is so flexible. Those movements are more for acrobatics I think. Or is she truly a human being?
ReplyDeleteYou kind of wonder, don't you? Plus she's gorgeous.
DeleteI love The Nutcracker so much!
ReplyDeleteI know you do, my little sugar plum fairy.
DeleteI've never had any interest in ballet but i adore you so I watched the vid! Wow! There's some incredibly fit bods there! x
ReplyDeleteDance is the BEST workout. I'm searching for a Bollywood Dance class. Care to join me?
DeleteGood lord, that is extraordinary! I am in awe of what some people can do with their bodies. I have poor co-ordination, and a dreadful sense of balance, so watching this makes me feel extra clumsy and graceless! Off to try and stand on the Mr's shoulders now... It might kill one or both of us! xxxx
ReplyDeleteI know. This dance makes me feel like a hippo.
DeleteHi Connie!
ReplyDeleteI tried to watch in my phone but it took forever to load - i will watch the great swan dance at home -
I took ballet too when i was a little girl but not as long as you -
Mr. D is off this week with grand daughter to see the Nut Cracker avec les Grands Ballets Canadiens - She will love it!
Hope you are doing fine chère Connie !
Hugs
Arianexo
I'll bet you were the cutest little ballerina :-)
DeleteAs a ballet fan, I have seen a few performances of Swan Lake (including the all male one) but I have NEVER seen anything like that. Just incredible! xxx
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see the all male version!
Deletewow.....I really loved Matthew Bourne's all male Swan Lake!!
ReplyDeleteMatthew Bourne is Crazy Cakes!!! I wanted to profile his Nutcracker but I couldn't find a good video of it.
DeleteQuite precise indeed!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, no wonder you have found ballet so technically challenging, it's hard enough getting one's partner to stand still while you do pointe work on his head let alone tracking down a neighbour to spot you in case you fall!!! There's something freakishly compelling about flying like a swan using your legs as wings. Gaaa. That was incredible. I'm sure it's the water. They should bottle that.
ReplyDeleteI loved when the guy ran in to do a little spot work, then ran out!
DeleteBallet is beautiful. I learned it when I was really young (maybe 6 or so) but didn't get far.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to watch the video at home (I'm at work now hehe).
hugs!!!
This isn't like the ballet we did when we were in class. That's for sure.
DeleteI love a bit of ballet even though I gave it up to go riding horses and I sussed out it would be too difficult for me when I was about 8. I do appreciate the skill though... mind you if we'd done ballet like this, I might have stuck at it!
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas.
