Nicely Done

When I was a kid and probably when you were a kid, at the end of every doctor or dentist appointment we were usually given a lollipop for our good behavior.
Hmmm...I'm not sure how healthy it is to give sugar to a extremely active kid with cavities but I sure didn't complain much at the time.
In fact, I sometimes wonder how anyone born before the 1990's survived all the junk we were fed as children.
 But lo and behold. Here we are.
Now as a grown-up, after a doctor or dentist appointment, we are rewarded with a Nice Hefty Bill ~ especially if we live in these here Good Old United States. Sigh...
 These days I try to avoid sugar as much as possible because I am, after all, a real live Grown-up.
So since I have been a very brave girl throughout all of my scary doctor appointments. And since I am so amazing that I have actually started (finishing remains to be seen) making Holiday presents in the Summertime ~ one of the Upsides of Downtime~
 I have decided to reward myself with a little Etsy shopping.
I deserve it, God Dammit.
I treated myself to this beautiful 1990's era gauze dress from BeigeVintage. It Is Enormous. And very breezy and comfortable. I just love it. And I could quite possible eat a lot of sugary things while wearing it....if I wanted to...but I won't...well, maybe I will...but I probably shouldn't...but I could...do I smell cookies?? Anyhoo...
Nicely Done, Me.
Meanwhile, my sidekick and interior design partner Pancake has started a pine cone collection. Every time we come home from the park he brings another pine cone which we have turned into a lovely organic coney centerpiece.
Nicely Done, Pancake.

How do you reward Yourself????

So happy to be back in the game.

 It's been such a long time, hasn't it?????
I have been on a bit of a "Journey."
And I'm not talking about a little trip to Grandma's house.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
 It was more like a Long Uncomfortable Ride on a Bumpy Muddy Road in the Back of a Rusty Old Pick-Up Truck being Driven by a Drunk CHIMPANZEE.
That old adage "When you've got your Health you've got Everything" is so so True.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So.....this is where I have been spending many of my days.
I've been hanging out with Pancake my trusty nap companion.
And in addition to hours of Broad City and Seinfeld reruns I have had the time to Totally indulge my Love of La Nouvelle Vague.
"Bande a Part" - "Band of Outsiders"
No wonder I keep drawing this CARD:
 So at long last, my friends, I'm going to make another attempt to rejoin the Land O' The Bloggin'!!!!
What have YOU been up to lately?
Do Tell.
Hold That Thought...
One of the best things about blogging is connecting on so many levels with kindred spirits all around the world. But I don't have to tell you that, do I? You all KNOW it's true.
 I am in the process of recovering from my latest Prolotherapy treatment.
Believe me, it is Not Blogworthy.
So I shall now entertain you with some photos of an Apple Tart baking session.
I like to use Golden Delicious Apples because they hold their shape when baked.
Wish I could say the same for myself...ba-da-bum.
Monsieur Crepe, My Bakery Assistant.
I should probably make him wear a hairnet.
 And just when I was feeling really really sorry for myself...
THIS came in the mail. And It Made My Day!!!!
All hand made by the most amazing Suzanne Carillo.
We all know that she is amazing. She made everything here.
You really must check out her Etsy shop.
Really. The photo does not do this necklace justice.
It is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!
Thank you Suzanne. The healing crystals are working their magic.
I feel better already.
Acceptable, Repectable, Presentable, A Vegetable
     happily, joyfully, playfully
And all the birds in the trees, well they'd be singing so happily, joyfully, playfully watching me.
Hey There.
I'm Back.
Here. These are for you
thrifted 90's rayon dress
yawn ~ the same damn flip flops
I had planned a completely different outfit for my return to Blogsylvania but it has been so Hot around here that I'm actually wearing my most breezy baggy sweat proof dress. Wheh!
Lithium crystal necklace
whatever works. right?
How Have You All been??????
I've been checking in with you from time to time while I was away on my little trip to the outside world. My but you're a Busy Bunch.
I really don't have much to say except that it's Nice To Be Back.
It's So Hot that Pancake and I have been going for drives in the car with the windows down just so we can get a little breeze.
This song was playing on the car radio today and even though I really don't especially like "hot sax"  I will forgive dear Roger Hodgson because The Logical Song just says it all.
Dig it Dig Dig it YEAH!
~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#
And I am totally cheating here because Spy Girl Anne's link up is Plaid but I'm gonna go with the hot Autumn theme.
Linking up with Sacramento's Share-in-Style Autumn because even though it's 80 degrees outside it IS officially Autumn.
And honestly, what we do without Patti's Visible Monday? Of course I'm linking up!
Yarn Bombed
When I drove by this stop sign in my neighborhood I Jumped Right out of the Car.
Somebody had Yarn Bombed the Stop Sign!!
I knew this was going on all over the world but San Diego can be a bit..okay..a LOT conservative so I never expected to see it here. But here it is. And there are others here as well.
Sign poles by Crochet Grenade.
A fire hydrant. Again by the awesome Crochet Grenade.
 Arrrrgh. photo by Marc Fredrickson
I just knew that I HAD TO yarn bomb something. Now the po-po are on the hunt for the elusive Bryan who does the flower stop signs.  I have enough problems without having to add jail time to my resume so I decided to yarn bomb the tree in my own front yard.
I wanted to do Black and White Stripes like this because I am Yipes Stripes NUTS about Black and White Stripes which you already know if you have ever visited my Stripe-Me-Up Pinterest Board.
So I measured the tree and bought the yarn and.....
we moved to another house before I even got started. Augh! I haven't yarn bombed yet. Which is pretty typical for me. I have piles and piles of unfinished knitting projects: Sweaters that have GONE out of style and COME BACK into style and I still haven't finished them. Sweaters that my children outgrew before I ever finished knitting them. Sweaters with Shoulder Pads. Shoulder Pads!!! We're talking mid 80's. All unfinished. So I can add yarn bombing to my list of unfinished projects. Sigh..
I finally ended up using the yarn to make Pancake a little sweater. A Completed Project!
So I guess you could say that I Yarn Bombed the Dog!
PS
This week I'm attempting to link up with both Patti at Not Dead Yet Style and Jane at Flight Platform Living. Jane's prompt for this week's Shiny T Tuesday is: UNDENIABLY ME.
Here I am wearing an outfit that I have had FOREVER starting a project that I will probably NEVER FINISH. So Typically ME.
Hat bought in Venice Beach, California about 19 years ago.
Mexican blouse bought from a vendor on Olvera Street in Los Angeles at LEAST 30 years ago.
Denim cut offs from Banana Republic Outlet jeans about 6 or 7 years old.
Reefs flip flops about 5 years old.
Vintage Ray Ban sunglasses.
Here's a close up of the Mexican Blouse with its beautiful hand embroidery. See why I've kept it forever?
My Turf
Welcome to My New Home.
This lovely face will greet you at the door.
A much nicer face than mine if I answer the door first thing in the morning with major bed head and pillow creases all over my un-made-up face. Eek!
Besides, the former owners left a palm tree shaped Mezuzah on the door so she can watch over it. So cool. I've never had a Mezuzah before. Maybe it will keep the LDS folks away. Sorry LDS brothers and sisters. You are very friendly but I will never join your religion. Good Luck to you anyway :-)
There is a sweet little park behind my house so let's take a peek at it.
There's my little Pancake going for a walk in the park.
This is the balcony of the house across the street. Isn't it pretty?
And here I am with my binoculars, checking out the neighbors. You just Never Know who might be living next door.
white linen dress bought with my employee discount when I was a sales slave at Eileen Fisher
black tank and shorts from when I was a Pilates Instructor
bare feet. I'm not in shoes yet but at least I'm upright
And here I am showing you my bike shorts. I was so very kindly invited to join Shiny T Tuesday over at Flight Platform Living. The theme is "anything on anything" so I have chosen White on Black or....Dress on Shorts or....Spying on Neighbors.
Thank You Jane. I Love You. This is my first time ever doing this.
