Cuckoo for Tutus

source

I'm still not getting out to the Thrift Shops the way I used to so maybe it's time to just Stay Home and clean out the photo files. That way I can say I cleaned Something. Sorry Bathroom, you will have to wait yet another day. The dog is still drinking out of the toilet so it can't be that bad. Well, maybe it can be. Oh whatever....
~~~~~~~~
I am just Crazy about Ballet Themed Things. I rarely buy them because if I do that will give my husband permission to fill the house with baseball themed things. No f&#%ing way THAT is going to happen!
So I just browse. Here are a few shots from a little shopping trip last Spring:
The only thing I actually purchased was
this Beautiful Ballerina Fabric. I Swooned!
I love it so much that even though I've had it for a long time, I just can't decide what to make with it. I'm afraid I'll screw it up. Any suggestions?
  1. Hi Connie, those are beautiful items. The Ballet paintings are lovely. As for your Ballet fabric, my suggestion is to turn them into pillow cases. That way you can place them in your sofa, chair, and even your bed for your own viewing. Take care, Pamela.
  2. Oh, lovely. I blame Degas! How about making lots of lovely little lavender bags to hang on your coat hangers?
  3. Now Thar's an idea. I should have a lavender crop in a few months. Oh that Degas!
  4. Could you make a scarf? The fabric reminds me of some wrapping paper I got as a child - it had ballerinas all over it. I kept the paper for a long time, and I think I cut out some of the ballerina like paper dolls.
    You need a ballerina closet where you can keep ballerina things. Your husband could have a baseball closet somewhere - maybe in the garage, or the attic!
  5. What gorgeous ballet bits! Love that tutu and the case full of patterns. That fabric is stunning, how about a tote bag to carry your thrifted finds home in when you're back to full form. xxx
  7. So many beautiful photos of lovely things, Connie, and the dancers are adorable.
    That fabric is stunning. Just wrap yourself in it and sway elegantly. Is there enough to make a circle skirt so you can put a pouffy tulle petticoat underneath and play ballerinas? xxxxx
  13. I'm swooning over the ballerina fabric, too!!! I love stuff like this, especially tutu's! I think this goes back to my mom not letting me run around in one when I was little (I had a white sparkly tutu that I thought was the prettiest thing I'd ever seen... My mom had other ideas :( )
    Maybe you could make a skirt or button down blouse with the fabric?
    1. OK. Two votes for a skirt. Don't think I could handle the button down. I've never been much good at making button holes. Snaps maybe...but that is rather unballet-like.
  14. I think the ballet fabric would make pretty pillowcases.
    There is something about ballet and tutus that is so pretty.
  15. There truly is something so romantically evocative about tutus isn't there. A beautiful roundup to be sure. Like everyone else, I can't wait to see what you decide with that sweet fabric! Hope your feeling better these days my dear!
  26. I like the idea of a skirt as well. I second that vote. I still live ballet things too. I'd love to own a long tulle skirt-- gray, and wear it with a creamy white or pink mohair sweater.
